Today Q, with the other 983 9th graders, graduated from the junior high school.

This weekend was very important for Q and the 9th graders nationwide- the official exam for entering senior high schools.

For some reason, I wasn't able to be with Q yesterday, but today I got to pick him up at the school where the exam was hold. I took a brief tour around the campus, and I guess Q might be able to go to a better school. He did fairly well on the exam, and hopefully he will go to one of the best senior high schools. Let's wait for the official grade report in 10 days...

Yesterday was a happy day for some of the 9th graders, but also cruel to those who (ie. the kids I believe to be very outstanding too) got rejected by the schools. I tried to comfort some kids and the parents, but actually Q was also one of the victims in the reform our education system.

Glad that Q never loses his faith. Good for him!

a bet

Q has decided to give up the "school" (if any good news tomorrow), which will be a "bet" for him. He has decided to take the entrance exam in June and has been studying for it.

Looking at this old photo taken in Spain, we know life was simpler and easier then.

I came across this photo on my computer in the office, which was taken on our trip to eastern Taiwan a few years ago. And then I went through some of those old photos, gosh...how fast time flies! Q is going to senior high soon!
