Today is Easter Sunday and also Children's Day here. With Taiwan's lowest birth rate of all the countries worldwide over the years, I am quite worried about the country's future. (The number of childbirths per 1,000 people stood at 0.829 percent last year.) People around me would rather keep single than get married, and the married ones insist having no kids or (at best) only one kid.

Viewing the change of the country's population structures as well as the huge shrinkage of school kids in the recent years, I really do wish to see more children in the school, in the park, on the street, in many families; and of course, I'd love to see more happy kids everywhere!

(The city government asked the elementary school teachers not to give kids any homework assignments for this weekend, but what I saw from Quentin today is: more tests in the coming weeks, so this poor kid has to study harder on the weekend.)
